SUSTAINABILITY

IMG_0256.HEIC

Earth is all we have.

We aim to offer thoughtful hospitality that’s kind to the Earth—while still being practical and comfortable.
Here are just a few examples of how we do that:

  • In the restroom, we provide small hand towels instead of disposable paper ones

  • Our bath towels are high-quality, absorbent half-size towels—enough to dry off, without the excess

  • Instead of paper cups, you'll find real ceramic mugs in the cupboard

  • The furnishings in your room have been lovingly used for many years

  • Our wall hangings are handmade from repurposed vintage fabrics

  • And our garden is inspired by Zen aesthetics, blending handmade touches with the natural elements already in place

In this way, we hope to support a clean, comfortable, and environmentally low-impact travel experience for all our guests.

Share Stories.

If sightseeing alone doesn’t quite satisfy your curiosity,
we invite you to experience a journey with stories to savor and special moments to remember.

At Shu, we hope your stay becomes a starting point for your own unique story.
To help with that, we offer a variety of hands-on cultural experiences.

Even after you return home, we want your time here to stay with you—something you might reflect on, revisit, and continue to grow from.

Shu can also be your base for exploring the wider Sasebo area and beyond.
We’re happy to listen to what you’d like to see, do, or learn—and offer advice and ideas to make your journey richer.

Let us be your starting point for discovering the beautiful nature, history, and culture of Kyushu.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At SHU, we are committed to sustainable practices. We reuse bathwater for cleaning and watering our garden. The stones from our garden's ground-leveling are repurposed to create a beautiful new landscape. We are currently working on a Zen garden, and we can't wait to share our progress with you!
